Bowie, MD: On October 14 and 15, the fifth annual Black Authors and Readers Rock Weekend (BARR) a literary networking conference, will be held at The Comfort Inn of Bowie. County Executive Rushern Baker, III, will welcome the attendeees.

This year, BARR has partnered with a local non-profit, community-based organization, "Love by the Handles, which serves individuals in transition. Attendees are urged to bring their donations of gently used purses or cell phones AND to place a small inspirational book in the purse, to help support the organization.

Through BARR, Sharon Lucas, a local author and Planner of the event, continues her journey to encourage reading in Prince George's County.
